Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane took a shot at Cristiano Ronaldo's critics after the Portugal international scored a hat-trick in the 6-0 trashing of Espanyol on Sunday while he also hailed James Rodriguez's performance.
Coach Zinadine Zidane was quoted saying:
"We're so used to seeing Cristiano scoring, if he doesn't get a hat trick, people think there's something wrong. ... We’ve got accustomed to him scoring always—in every game. That won’t change because he is a very effective player, he has tremendous ambition and he always wants to score for the team. It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t score. Defensively, he did a magnificent job tonight."
His outing against Espanyol must have been satisfying in the wake of those comments, according to Infostrada Sports, Cristiano Ronaldo has yet set another landmark he now has 39 career Hat-Tricks.
Rodriguez is another player who has been the subject of much criticism, and he too found the net against the Catalans on Sunday. The Colombia international received the seal of approval from Zidane.
Zinadine Zidane had this to say:
"I'm very happy with how James is performing. He is working very hard and I’m particularly happy with what he is doing off the ball. When he’s not in possession, he is doing a great job, and when he’s got the ball, we all know what he can do. Overall I was very happy with his performance today."
